Behind the scenes story of the cave rescue

Wash Post article
You may have to open in incognito mode to get past the paywall.
Summary:
Massive pumps were rushed to the scene (they eventually ruined the crops of 128 rice farmers) and Thai divers started looking but were getting nowhere. Out of the blue a British hobbyist spelunker who'd spent ten years exploring the caves was convinced they were looking in the wrong place, and wrote to the governor saying so and recommended the British divers for the job.
He was right about where to look and the boys were found. Drilling didn't look promising and five months in a cold cave with falling oxygen levels was judged as almost certainly fatal, so they elected to dive them out. They fully expected to lose some of the kids but thought most of them would make it.
The rescue team built models of the tighter spaces and practiced in a pool before going in. For the extraction, one diver pulled the stretcher and the other wrapped his body around the passenger to protect from the cold rushing water.
The four divers who were the last to exit got lucky, just before one of the large hoses burst and sent a wave of water into the cave just as they were leaving. They ran for it and made it out just in time.
Yeah, this is definitely going to be a movie.

Discovery Channel has a program scheduled tonight on the rescue. I have no idea how they put it together that quickly.

I've read a couple on in-depth articles about this and I have no clue how the majority or all of them did not die. The challenges they overcame were truly astounding and seem almost miraculous. One of the Navy Seals said that when they first got to the scene, the water had a current like the Colorado River and had zero visibility. He said when they dove in, there was on spot where they (Navy Seals) were freaking out because they basically thought they were trapped until they figured out an exit.
To get all of those kids out alive in those conditions is close to unimagnible if you read about all of it. Even the Seals thought there was no way when they first assessed the situation. Remarkable men and kids.
