A friend of mine who's about my age (mid-50s) recently got divorced and I told him one of the reasons I stay with my wife is that I'd hate like hell to re-enter the dating world these days.

This is pretty wise and pretty much describes me to. I know I wouldn't be able to tell heads from tails in today's dating scene and I probably wouldn't bother.

Just pay a professional a couple times a month and you will come out way ahead financially and mentally.

Find a female that thinks your poor and still wants you. Hopefully a dumb one. See what her mother looks like to gauge down the road.

Easier said than done.

When I was single here in Dallas, I went on a lot, and I mean A LOT, of dates. I was 39/40 and they were all over the chart. I casted a wide net, from 21-47. There was no difference in the way these women treated you and acted. Always interested, then after 2 or 3 dates you were ghosted. They were mainly women from Hinge or Bumble. They have so many options that they like to put them all to use. I met my current gf through a mutual friend one night out, the old fashioned way, and it’s been 8 months and going strong af. Being single at an older age is a bitch and I never ever want to experience that fricking nightmare ever again.

Damn straight. Anyone with kids and are divorced thinking of dating again, make sure you go upwards and don't settle for less.

I think I would just remain single if I got divorced. Saw many of my uncles and older cousins get married too many times and lose their wealth.

I could be reading it incorrectly but according to your graph, between 33 and 43% of women with a degree are married to a man without a degree during the years '10-'19. Hardly the "don't" and "won't" suggested by this thread.

In fact, it appears men are more picky about that, as fewer of them who have degrees marry a woman without.

Just having a college degree doesn’t mean shite. These aren’t the people being talked about that won’t marry “down.” Tons of teachers, nurses, etc, marry people without degrees all the time

It’s more professional women: lawyers, doctors, etc.

eh, the world is different now.

people don't go to church anymore so that built in network is gone.

dating coworkers is a no-go for most younger people and a huge % boomer/Xer marriages came from the workplace.

with more educated/career oriented people, moving to another city or state is becoming a lot more common, thus you lose that network.

add in COVID and things just aren't great

Add to this that in the past, a lot of women went to college to get their MRS degree. Some still do, but a lot of them are either driven by their career (because that's what feminism has told them they should do) or are already man-hating harpies that will be filling their course schedules with Women and Gender Studies classes.
