It could have been but the oil companies built Lakeside in the 60's, 70's and 80's.....I doubt they did any type of studies back then
I knew the 70’s but I didn’t realize Lakeside went back to the 60’s and I’m sure you’re right about the lack of studies.

but Lakeside has never flooded....not even for Andrew
oh I know, I know Lakeside very well. I just always laughed at that little levee on Justa.

Renwick and along the Teche from Berwick all the way to BV has some really nice house....a lot of money in that little area
even into Patterson there are some nice houses. Funny thing about the tri city, a lot of people leave but a lot of money stays too

On our way to Mobile we got re-routed through a small farming community in LA named Bunkie. Most of it was mid-century homes in various conditions but there were some turn of the century homes in the middle of town, some of those were gorgeous and well-maintained. Sorry no pics

No pics here either, but just north of Bunkie is a beautiful columned home.
Also, on the Whiteville Hwy is Oak Hall. It is off the Highway but I had an opportunity to tour it several years ago after it was renovated and it is gorgeous.

I forgot about the sheet piles, it’s been awhile since I’ve been down there but I do remember seeing them now. Better than those HESCO baskets they left there for years. I heard someone finally bought the judges house and is tearing it down to rebuild a new house. Also last I heard there was talk of building a rock jetty with another floodgate for Lake Palourde dr but I’d be surprised if that actually happened

They’re building a huge 300’ floodgate at Bollinger in Amelia for Bayou Chene. It’s already almost done.

Damn, Lee should have left that house standing and just finished it. I was able to see the inside several years ago and it was already partially refinished

If that’s the case you prob know just as well as I do that MC had the possibility to be a lot more than what it currently is even after the oil companies left town but a certain family didn’t want to let off the land and they still don’t for the most part because they don’t need to

Nicholls, Southland Mall, etc.

Renwick has alot of folks with their net worth tied up in their home.

The homes along the bayou are where the actual money is.

That won't solve the project flood problem for Lakeside though.

None of these problems matter if the NFIP isn't extended again though.

Lakeside has never flooded and as long as the Walnut Canal is closed and the Chene floodgate is closed the only way Lakeside can flood is from some serious backwater from the Intracoastal

From what I knew of renwick he’s not completely wrong. There’s definitely some folks in there that I’m not sure how they have the finances for it.

That being said there’s definitely a ton of money there as well.

You don’t have to convince me, you have to convince the guys the draw up the flood maps.

Nothing incorrect about what I said - a lot of folks in Renwick are house poor. Doesn’t mean they all are.

Think I know the house you’re talking about. Big pond in the front?

Rich guy from California built this monstrosity in Delhi, LA.

Known as The Mansion. I know the owners very very well. Their Dad built it with money made from lithium battery tech development in San Jose Cali. Then, he needed to get outta Dodge and bought a sweet potato farm and built that big fricker. I don’t think they ever lived in it as his wife hated it. The original owners have passed and the Son and his wife hold events there now. It’s a beautiful place with huge bass stocked in the front ponds.
