This is what I notice as well. If you drive around the richer neighborhoods in my area, you'll see more hondas and toyotas than you will Range Rovers, Mercedes, etc.

Truly rich people don't have to show or prove to anybody else that they have money, they just know they have it. They're also usually smarter and don't find much value in dropping 100k on a depreciating asset.

“Adults” worried about their image. Pathetic. I guess they are really just teenagers in adult bodies.

We bid all cash with a close within a week as long as the inspection was good. Our realtor told us we would not get the house. The seller took our offer because he “needed the cash” from the sale.

Wrong. That is exactly how “it works”. He was selling the house and had to pay off an existing loan and and additional loan (equity line against his home).

Once all the papers were signed, he walked away with $14,725.00. Our offer was 15,000 BELOW asking price. The selling agent told our agent that she tried to tell him to wait as one of the other full price offers had only a minor contingency.

50k car isn't cheap arse.

Some people buy quality with the features they need. Why pay 50k more?

The trick is to buy a classic car or something old that that doesn't depreciate much, and then have a regular car or truck for daily drive.

In my limited experience in banking, I can tell you doctors, attorneys, and the highest wage earners are usually the absolute worst with money

I once worked in banking in a medium size town for a little more than a year, there has never been a statement with more truth in it. One dentist wanted to borrow money to pay his credit card minimum payments, the total balance from all his cards was over $200K , and this was 30 years ago. A Drs wife wrote a check for over $8500.00 when their account balance was 12 bucks.

Taxes are not really 35%. After deductions it’s more like 20%

These are people making 100k spending like they make 300k Making 450k you have to be chartering NetJets, buying your daughter a G wagon and similar stupid shite to be underwater

That’s not true. Between my wife and I we make well over 450k and live in Baton Rouge. We live an extremely average lifestyle. 450k isn’t really OT baller lifestyle by any means

No use driving a Porche if you are parking on the street Uptown and have to drive the shitty roads. Either the roads will tear the vehicle apart or the hoodlums will.

One of my finance professors told our class once that he once had a colleague that was making over 2m/year from teaching and his own business and was still living paycheck to paycheck scrapping by. It's not about how much you make.

Because the vast majority of people that truly “have it” are naturally frugal people, and for the vast majority of people the difference between a $40,000 Acura and an $80,000 Mercedes is vanity.

Again it’s typically people’s wives that sit at home and worry about keeping up with the Jones. In the legal and medical profession it’s more the rule than the exception
