You could build that. Then you'd have to build a new one in 20 years for the white people to go to

And there it is.

If you are so concerned about "undesirables" and black people in general, I'm curious what you actually do to help fix these problems?

There what is? It's reality. You needn't look any further than the malls built in BR for proof.

I couldn't care less as I don't live in BR anymore, but a large segment of the population has a shite culture that eventually destroys these types of developments for numerous reasons.

An aquarium downtown would do wonders for tourism

I dont know. BR I dont think will ever be a tourist town. Adding an aquarium wont do 'wonders' for it.

BR is at a disadvantage being next to one of the most tourist filled cities in the world.

And of course move the zoo as well from its dreadful location in North Baton Rouge.

Yeah, move it to that swamp off Burbank. I'm sure that will work out well when it goes underwater during the first hurricane. It'll be like Jurassic Park.

And which lucky SBR residents will be downwind of this great attraction?

Again, what do you propose is a good method for raising up people in lower socioeconomic groups?

Moving away from and isolating them really seems to be solving the problem.

Promotion of two parent households, decrease the number of high school drop outs, decrease their reliance on government benefits, etc...

A fricking aquarium isn't going to turn hoodlums into Harvard grads.

"The problem" isn't one I can solve. They'll need to do that from within.

Took my son to the BR zoo this morning, 1st time i've been there in 15+'years. That is a depressing site. Animals look sedated and damn near dying. Some of the habitats have signs/plaques saying they were renovated in 2014, look like they have been neglected since 2014. It's typical BREC, what can you expect.

BINGO!! Just look at the thuggish trash that has now infiltrated the mall itself. I was told by a developer that that's why they've put stores on the outside of the mall, and if they would've know that the "trash" wouldve migrated there, they would've developed to whole site (outdoor stores) like that instead of the mall itself. Point being is that the "trash" doesn't usually congregate in/around outdoor stores like they do in the mall. Said they've done actual studies on it and the point continues to be made (about the "trash").

You people let Catfish Town die.

You don't deserve an aquarium.

Except aquaiums are immoral and zoos aren't too much better in many circumstances.

How is it that New Orleans is more violent but the zoo, aquarium, and mall operate just fine?

Not that I dont think the zoo could be so much better but the animals arent going to be very active in 90 degree heat in the direct sun.

The place needs to be shut down and moved to a new area and start over.

I agree that the zoo location sucks and that its nothing exciting. Its an average zoo thats out of the way. In theory a high-end aquarium downtown would be night, but Baton Rouge isn't big enough for that. Its a state capital/college town city.

so where do you get an extra $20 million or so?

Any idea what it costs to move a zoo? Start at $100 million.

Oh is that what is happening? Isolation? Bc I swear, to my silly naive eyes it looks like the trash constantly takes advantage of federal law to move on over to the better neighborhoods where they quickly transform them into the hoods they just left.

Aquarium of America is a $54mil project.
LINK

Not sure if theres a need or demand for another one thats less than 1.5hrs away. However I wouldn't be oppose to it since the city piss away much more money than that on a routine basis.
