Baton Rouge Neurologists Who Accept Medicaid

In the hunt for jobs right now and recently joined Louisiana Medicaid for the next few weeks as I continue the job hunt. Have an underlying spinal nerve issue I need help on and cannot find a Baton Rouge neurologist that accepts Medicaid. Even those listed as providers on the LA Medicaid provider page (e.g. Kenneth Gaddis) and those listing on their LA Medicaid as accepted insurance (e.g. Neuromedical Center, Oschner, The Baton Rouge Clinic) say they don't take it once I call.
Does anyone know of a good BR neurologist who does? Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Dude, ask your PCP. You need a referral anyway.

Doing that now. I sent an email to each of the providers who listed my particular insurance but are not honoring that asking that they remove it from their list of accepted insurances if they don't accept it.

True. Not familiar with how it works as in the past I had my own neurologist that I had seen for years.

Try Dr. Acosta. Can also try University in New Orleans, but the wait will be long.

Haha. Yeah. I second-guessed it. But sometimes you got to do what you got to do.

Good luck with that. Medicaid also doesn’t cover pain management either.

Never been on it before but for what it's worth I review the benefits and it lists adult pain management as being covered.
Then again—as I'm learning saying something is covered and finding a provider who accepts medicaid are two different things.

What Medicaid plan do you have? Medicaid doctors don’t accept all of them. Most don’t take Aetna and United pays the least. Louisiana Health Care Connections seems to be one of the best.

Louisiana Healthcare Connections is the one assigned to us. So far I've tried the following clinicss/doctors to no avail:
The Baton Rouge Clinic
NeuroMedical Center
Oschner Health Center
Dr. Kenneth Gaddis

I’m surprised you can’t find one with them. You can look up the other LA plans like Aetna, United, Healthy Blue on their individual sites and see if they have different providers than what you have. You have 90 days to switch plans if you find another one that works. Best of luck to you in your search!
