typically, young toddler starts around 12-15 months depending on then there is space for your kid to move up. The price will drop $10-20 per week, but as mentioned earlier the increasing prices every year bacically nullifies any savings.

Parkview daycare is great but its around 1K/Month. And like most have said, if the daycare is any good it will have a waiting list. My advice is visit a few of them and get on a few waiting list, some might open up sooner than others.

And factor in that you still pay even if you miss days or go on vacation.

Yeah, we get 1 week of vacation a year that must be used all at once. No prorated weeks. And we don't get that week till he has been there a full year.

If you’re in a church or have a good social network, you could try asking if anyone knows of a good home daycare. We did that with our first and loved it. A bit cheaper too and certainly felt like a more family environment than the big facilities. You can always move over to a preschool a few years later.

I think up to one year. Until then its a 5 to 1 ratio, so the infants are more expensive.

We are paying $200 per week now, which I think is a pretty fair price for someone watching my child 40 hours per week.

Have you started funding your Dependent Care FSA yet?

I would say > 90% of people don't know what they getting into with daycare until they find out the woman is pregnant. Don't be so sanctimonious.

Is that like a regular health FSA where you can determine the amount you set aside for it each year(ex: say you want to set aside $3000)...but you have full access to the full amount day one of your FSA?

Ex: I set aside $1500 for my health FSA. Our insurance/benefits at work is on fiscal so everything starts July 1. So July 1 I have access to $1500 in my FSA. They will just take out whatever the biweekly amounts out of my check.

Also, make sure you pick one that has cameras. Ours uses PB&J TV, it'll make your wife feel much better about being away from the baby.

No, it's just a pre tax savings account. Distributions require receipt proof of dependent care Costs. Max is $5k/year for 1 child iirc. Not sure if it increases proportionally per additional child or not.
