I did not. Was busy and wasnt able to catch any of it. They seem to have been an influx of 80s and 90s cars as of late.

I still catch myself not caring about cars after 1971 and before 2000 or so.

Talked to my wife last night about making a trip in a couple of years. I really want to go.

Oh yea. I watched the pre-auction show earlier this week.

A family friend has a 58 he had frame offed and is having a 60 (I think) done as we speak. He bought that 58 in 1960 and has been having it ever since.

I got to drive it to school the last day of my senior year before he had it restored too.

shite I couldn't afford anything there. Baby is due in 3 weeks, so it'll probably be a while before I can afford anything there too (and that's why the trio is pushed back a couple of years).

Took the wife to look at the cars etc and we went last Saturday. It's wild how much money gets tossed around at this… 40k for a neon sign…

To my knowledge, I can't remember 3 #1's ever going at the same time.

I can only imagine the work and $ it took to track all three and purchase them. Not mentioning the restoring either.

tbh, i wouldnt even want to buy anything on friday and saturday. the prices are really inflated right now and especially on those two days. a vette that you can get for 50k somewhere will go for 75-100k at this auction. combo of booze, bidders with deep pockets, and the market being out of control.

i think thats why ron pratte got out last year. bubble might be bursting soon

You should push that bottom number to 1972. My first car was a '72 Nova, and it was a pretty cool muscle car. But in general, I'm exactly the same as you. Not interested in cars mid 70's to low 2000's.

They probably weren't that hard to track. The NCRS has a pretty thorough database on where these cars are and who owns them. Now getting them all together at auction is something else.

FiL has a 32 model A, 66 Chevelle convertible, and is building a 29 hi boy on a 31 frame. Just sold a 69 Voltswagon Gia. Dude loves this shite.

Well I guess I meant more of keeping track in order to put them together.

And jones, maybe that's why he got out, maybe it isn't. He's got hundreds of millions, I don't know if he was too worried.

ETA but prices are getting ridiculous.

High end is still going. "Normal" classics have flattened out. Old guys that work on these things are dying out. Swap meets aren't as big as they used to be. Money is all in the high end.

They have an auction in the spring at Palm Beach County Florida. Still great cars but nowhere near the prices that the Scottsdale auction gets.

No doubt.

They really are. I'm amazed at what some people are paying for early chrome bumper vettes with nothing really rare about them. I'm trying to work a deal right now on a 62 and the owner isn't budging much on his asking price.

what i find outrageous are the 1960s custom vettes that are going for 200k and up. i mean they look great and the work done is amazing but i still prefer original engine/look.

my brain doesnt think like this.

buy 62 vette
gut it
put new vette engine in it
chrome out everywhere
ridiculous paint
huge chrome rims'
drop it a few inches
200k

I even like some of the rarer ones that were the least desirable cars during their time. There was a red corvette last night, I can't remember the year maybe early 70s, that they called a paper car I believe. It was ordered with hardly any frills and was only ordered to advertise for a cheap price.

this one?

Lot #50.2 - This is equipped with a 454 LS4 engine, matching-numbers, 4-speed, factory air and highly detailed engine compartment. This beautiful big block maintains a unique position in the Corvette design's evolution with the plastic bumper front and chrome rear bumper. This 'Vette was originally orange and has had only one repaint since. It also features a tilt steering wheel, AM/FM tape player and power windows. It is a rare, one-year production Corvette.
