Trip photo journals are one of the best thing this board does. People should do them more often.

Honestly, I'd probably stop working to read one from a trip to Houston, doesn't matter.

Agreed

ETA: Thanks for posting OP

Bangkok, Thailand - HGG's trip review

Very nice I'm head to Bangkok on the 18th of March. I am spending two days in Phuket, two days in Siem Rep, and four in Bangkok.

They definitely took great care of them or we wouldn't have been there.

OP, did you go to Ratchadamnoen Stadium?

I had to go to Lumpinee because of the dates I was there. It sucked.

I went to Phuket, Thailand about a year before the tsunami took it out. It was while I was in the Marines and we ported there. Place was awesome and I'll never forget it. It was more of a resort place. Beautiful beach and scenery and lots of fun to be had!

How were the flights there and back? What airlines and connections...recs?

I flew to Singapore with a stop in Tokyo. From Singapore I flew Tiger Air to bangkok....it is the dirtiest airline in the world. Most of the seats had different fabric, some dude a few rows back was smoking and a fight broke out in the back row among ladies. Everyone just sat in their seat and didnt pay attention to any of this, it was classic for sure.

I went onto Skyscanner.com (while in Singaore because you get much better rates from them using your "local" IP address) and found roundtrip for $115.

Gotta eliminate stress from the dogs before they are decapitated and turned into K9 burgers.

I don't remember the name, the hotel concierge booked it all for me. I gave him a $10 tip and you would have thought it was $100 from his reaction.

Also, I got a custom suit for $120 with nice think fabric. Price included getting smashed on bourbon while I was getting fitted and having the suit delivered to the hotel. Again, concierge set it up for me...I didn't trust just some random tailor to deliver the suit after i had already paid.

What Soi was Dream Hotel on? I lived in Bangkok for three years. One year was in The Emporium, the last 2 years were between Sukhumvit Soi 39 and 41. I miss it at times. It gets a bad wrap for the red light districts. But there's a lot more to the city than that.

I realize Bangkok itself isn't on the ocean but could someone from America retire there and buy a cheap decent house on some water?

Does that translate to "suck on it"?

I'm sure you could find something near a beach, but the Thai government makes it pretty hard for a foreigner to purchase property. Atleast they did when I was there.
