Definitely not the best, but Brock Lesnar, winning the UFC heavyweight title in just his 4th-ever MMA fight, is the most impressive.

Dan Henderson is the baddest. Chuck is my favorite but they literally named his right overhand the Hendo Bomb. This is the guy I want in a bar fight

I started getting in to MMA during Liddell's heyday. He had been KOing guys left and right and we (my gf & I) thought he was the biggest badass. Flew out to Vegas to see him fight Rampage. Needless to say we left disappointed

MMA is such a suck arse blood sport compared to boxing.

He's already been mentioned a few times, but Anderson Silva is my answer too.
His ability to see things coming (until that hook by Weidman) and his accuracy are still the best I've ever seen in MMA.
My favorite of all time, though, is Genki Sudo;

Another great one who hasn't been mentioned is Mirko Cro Cop. And let's not forget Wanderlei Silva... he was a beast there for a while.
I've also always loved Clay Guida -- dude has a motor that doesn't quit. He's relentless.

quote:These are the only answers. Although Jon Jones is questionable with is roid usage and questions how long he has been using. I know AS popped for roids but did he use in his prime or just after the leg break? Jon used roids in his prime, which is a big difference. Fedor could have been on roids in Pride, as they never tested and usually encouraged it, but has yet to pop and never will.
It's Jon Jones, Fedor and Georges in no particular order...Anderson Silva is right around there, too
I would argue that there are bigger, badder guys who couldn't even make the 265lb weight limit, but would never get in MMA with their relatively weak pay, unless you count the rebook money.

Royce Gracie won the first couple of UFC before they had weight classes. Think about that for a second.

And think about this; They didn't even use the best Gracie, his brother Rickson, because he was the best out of the Gracie clan and looked like one mean mofo. So, they went w/ the "weakest" looking one to prove just how effective BJJ was/is.
Now that I'm thinking about it, I'd love to see a prime Rickson fighting today's fighters. I think today's fighters would still win, but it would be nice to see how one of the baddest men on the planet at the time would stack up to today's greats.

Chuck made me love MMA. Hindo was badass too.

Gracie and it isn’t even close. A lot of MMA fans don’t know him but he was the king of MMA back in the day.

I'd think he would do just fine.

There are a few reasons I think he'd get beat; 1) Royce got beat w/ absolute ease by Matt Hughes, and to make matters worse, it was by submission. 2) MMA has evolved by leaps and bounds since Rickson's heydays. 3) Pure BBJ guys just don't win like they used to.
Don't get me wrong, I respect the hell out of those guys and what they did for the sport, but it's a lot different now than it was back then.
ETA: Sorry, it wasn't by submission, but he did have him in an solid armbar for a while.
