Nothing wrong with rewarding yourself with a couple cocktails and a little bump once in a while.

Your next win is to go another year and a half sober... Congrats... a year and a half is a good run. Keep going man. Don't give up.

Today is day one. Start over, and never look back to this mistake. Forgive yourself and move on. You can do it. You did it for 550 days. You can do it one day, then one more day, thence more day.

Setting a new sobriety date doesn't take away the year and a half you had. You still learned a lot and doesn't diminish the pride you should have for accomplishing it.

Yeah you fricked up. Big deal. Stop wallowing in self-pity and go do some volunteer work at a meeting. While you were watching tv in your boxers your addiction was doing push ups in the parking lot. Stay engaged.

Time is just time, you still have your experience from the time you were sober. What’s your email would love to chat and help any way I can.

Isn’t relapse like at 90% for addicts? If you don’t relapse, great. But otherwise it’s allabout how you handle a relapse.

I don't agree with this broad claim. As the amazing Cathy Finnegan rightly says on Intervention, you cannot pray them better. As for the sufferer, believing in some higher power may or may not do anything.

For clarification, when you say God, does the success also come with Allah, Joseph Smith, etc as the object of worship?

Hard to really know the rate of recidivism but it is definitely a high number. However, I would like to know the statistics of people who had over a year of sobriety (or any other random length) who went back out and never stopped. I don't run across that too often.

I think you mean spirituality. God might be the right spiritual conduit for you, but there are a lot of other ways to channel spirituality.

Thats why I cant trust the system. I dont believe in god and I dont believe anyone or anything can change my mind on that. A higher power or whatever just doesnt make sense to me.

Do you believe in something more powerful than your own will which has driven you to misery at every turn? Start there.

No I'm good. It would be nice to chill with some buddies and sip on a nice whiskey. That option was never in the cards for me though. That first sip has ended God awful for almost 15 years. Today is day 3 and onward.

I flushed an 8 ball of Coke in Costa Rica last week.

It was pure and straight from Columbia. Our dealer was from Cali.

8ball was $120 there. It still went down the drain.

Not even once anymore for me.
