It's easier to back in any large size vehicle into a parking spot when the spot is tight, and it makes it a lot easier to pull the same large vehicle out.

That's what I say

The is the most stupid thing I've ever read..... I live in a majority black community, NEVER see them back into spots at the store, etc.. White baws in big trucks however... Different story.

It's not a problem except for the ones that can't back up in between the lines and take up more than one space. My mirror got knocked off because a nurse was backing into a spot. And I asked "Why're you backing in if you don't know how?"
And she shrugged and tried walking off

I just drove through baton rouge last week and at a bathroom break I noticed the same thing. Several cars that seemed to obviously be owned by AAs were backed in. Like 5 in a row. I figured they all worked there and parked the same, but as I walked the dog I noticed all but one of those cars had expired license plates. Maybe that's part of the reason your wife has noticed the trend?

I'm sure it's been mentioned, but it's convenient to just drive out when you leave. You're hooking your "future self" up.

The reason this came up, is because at the hospital here, they recently put up a sign that said NO BACKING in to parking spots....oddly enough

Backing into parking spots is trashy. It is.

It's physically impossible for it to be "harder to drive into a spot than it is to drive out of it". Because if your car can make the turn coming out of a spot you backed into, it can make the turn going into it.

What is required of the driver is the same whether or not you back in, it's just the order they're done in. Turn in, back out and take off forward...or drive forward and back in, and then turn out. I personally believe it's both quicker and easier to back out into a larger space, like the row of a parking lot, than it is to back into a 10 foot wide space with cars on either side and a curb. But that's just me (and common sense).

Two reasons.

It prevents their tags from being easily run.

It allows for a quick exit.

I don't disagree with that, but someone above said it was hard for their car to turn into a spot but they could turn out just fine. My point is, if your car can turn OUT of a spot you backed into without hitting another car, then you can just the same turn IN to that same spot. It's not like a car gets magical "turn sharper" abilities when pulling out of a spot that has been backed into.

These are the only two reasons that I will buy (unless you live in a state where you need front plates too.)

its mental. when backing out you can get close to car on side of you and turn wheel as much as possible. pulling in you have a fear factor of clipping the corner.

plus the wheels are now at the back
