All of the names you listed are truncated to one or two syllables for simplicity in speech.
1) No, they aren't.
2) Claudia.

Who the frick is gonna call someone el, em or ev?
Elijah--> Eli more common than "El," but I know a guy who isn't infrequently called "El" when shortening his name.
And Everett-->Rhett (like Gone with the Wind) better than Ev. Whoever wrote these truncations is pretty terrible at it. Because no respectable man or boy named "Emerson" will ever be "Em."

I think they're talking about adult names, just early on in life.

Wal - ter
Two syllables. Many will call him Walt. Can and likely will be truncated.
Not all two syllable names fly. Most three syllable names crash and burn.

Claudia was not listed in your other post.
I think that is a good three syllable example.
The key is brevity, which few three syllable names offer. Claudia has many vowels, easily spoken, one of the few. Dia, though two syllables, is easily flowed as one.

Good critique. I was trolling on Emerson, I think it's an awful name. My wife thinks it's a solid name.

Agree, 'Perfect.
Hideous. A boy named Emerson will almost certainly have Low Testosterone.

Huckleberry was formally retired as we came out of the civil war.
Jeremiah - My-uh. Knew one in school.
Sebastian, not my style. Has not stood the test of time, to this date. Oft truncated.

Some shite just gets the blood flowing, Walt.
This thread beat out the sorority thread, to this point, in number of posts and it only took four hours.
