I'm really confused how it is a "Hey look at me" party when someone else plans and hosts the party...?

I'm sure some people can and do go over the top, but everyone I have attended has actually been pretty cool.

It's kinda cool for everyone to find out together and see everyone's reactions.

You're one of those dudes who gets told what to do by their SO.
It's cool, I have a friend or two just like you.

My wife would be the first person to tell you you're completely wrong.

No it's not.
It's cool for Mamaw and the parents and maybe the girls couple bffs.

Nobody else gives a frick.

Actually, I don't care what you think of me, this is an internet board. I defintely don't fit cool or manly, much more of a geek.

I hang out with my friends and family often. I don't need an asinine pinterest party to do it.

Is one more party really hurting you? If you enjoy being around these people, which you apparently do, why pass an opportunity to have a good time?

Gender reveals, sip and sees, etc. waste of time.

I could understand for your first child. But after that its just having a baby. Not that big of a deal.

Because I am not a self absorbed asshat. I hang out with friends because I want to hang out with them, not because I want to have a party to celebrate myself.

Yes.
I'm also a shitty friend for not telling him how much a tool he comes across by supporting this stuff and how he has become the butt of many jokes amongst his golfing pals.

Guilty.

Do you feel the same way about wedding showers or any other party that is tied to a life event?

Never will understand how getting together with friends and family to celebrate a life event, hang out, have a good time, eat good food and drink a few beers is a waste of time.

Again, maybe I'm just blessed to associate with awesome people who don't throw lame-arse parties and expect me to pay for unnecessary shite, but I like my friends...

The only person sounding like a tool is you.

Not the ones I've know about.
I've been invited to three I can remember.

I'm a shitty friend. 0 for 3 in attendance.

And expanding on this.

Is your friendship one way? You get invited to these things because your friends think highly enough of you to include you. You don't have to pay anything, you don't have to bring a gift. So what's the giant problem with going to a party to celebrate a big moment in your friend's life?

For the most part, I don't like to celebrate myself. My wedding was small. Obviously I can't control wedding showers or baby showers. That's the wife's gig, they are for her.

LOL

I bet your wife makes you take all kinds of pics with your pets with train tracks and barns in the background.

Then you post on Facebook for everybody to see.

So much in love.
