The engagement parties are the worst. If you have ever been to one you know what I mean. Usually late in the afternoon so I have to stop what I am doing, get cleaned up and drive across town.
Now engagement parties don't bother me. I don't know what kind you've been to.. but all I've been to seem to be at some random baller friend of the couple's house. Decked out with catered (or REALLY well made) food and at least 1 bar.
I'm wondering where all these people find a random rich person to throw them these parties. I've never been to a casual one.
I need to find myself a rich friend

The worst is being invited to one as the best man in Opelousas on. Sunday. Get back to me when y'all have to do that.

Baby Gender and martial really brings out the worst in some of us.

I'll confess... my wife and I did a gender reveal party.
We invited her immediate family as well as mine over. We ate some BBQ, had a few beers, and I played ball with my nephews in the back yard. When we got done eating, we sliced a cake open and found out we were having a boy. Thought it was a pretty fun day... not sure what all the hate is about.

This. Engagement parties are usually pretty classy. The couple of gender reveal parties I've been to were trashy.
Also, is it just me, or is it pretty anti-climactic when the gender is actually revealed? It's like oh okay, back to the average finger food table before I go the frick home.

Are you going to answer my question?

Because people hate babies, especially yours.

I imagine most don't really give a crap about knowing the gender of someone's future child, and attend out of a sense of duty.

I think the immediate family does care quite a bit. Inviting friends and neighbors is ridiculous... because they sure as shite don't care.

I must live in a bubble then because I was sincerely happy for my friends and went because I care about them. And I had a blast hanging out with friends and family.

Don't get me wrong, my friends do care about my wife and I as well as the baby... just not sure they would want to clear off a Saturday on their calendar to simply find out if it's a boy or girl. To each their own though... I see no problem with the whole idea.

I really think the people here in this thread that hate it are either exaggerating because this is the big bad OT and they afraid of being called beta or trashy for admitting they care, or they simply put way too much thought into a party for friends and family that just so happens to have a baby reveal theme.

True. There are pretty high standards here in the OT...

IMO, this is how you do it. Just make it a simple get together with family (MAYBE close friends) and don't make it baby-centric like a second shower.

And no, it makes you a pussy.
I'm sorry she made you take a silly dumbass picture before you really even "had" to.

You're so dumb I don't even know where to begin.
If most of the people here are actually who they portray, I hope they never get married and feel for the unfortunate souls who did marry them.

People on here just look for shite to bitch about.
Love all the badasses and probably every single one of them won't say a damn word when their spouse proposes this to them.

I don't think they are, but they have to act tough so they don't lose their e-cred on the big bad OT.
