some of his co-workers flew the CAF planes out of McKinny. He got checked out in the B25 and I think all of them have to check in the T6. Mainly for care and feeding of radial engines and tail dragger experience I suspect.

not sure how that works, there is definitely a pecking order, one of the guys from work just quit his job as a check airman because he was getting a chance to move from the B-26 to Fifi, I just texted him to see if he's down there, we need that flyover!!!

I completely understand. TD is my only hobby as well. Takes so much of my off time.

I already fly around the world 2-3 times a month as it is, I can waste time on here while sitting on my arse at home drinking a beer, the CAF is a yuuuge commitment of time(and money,) they don't just go out there and hop in, spin 'em up and go, incredible amount of maintenance hours to flight hours on those old birds, and it's all volunteer, now if they talk about getting an old F-4, I'm their huckleberry

The B29 wasn’t used in Europe during WWII.

couple of guys from work fly that, they asked if I was interested

Dude.

If someone asks "Would you like to fly a B-29?", the answer is ALWAYS "Yes!" unless the second part of that question is "or an SR-71?"

Oh, I’d love to do it, but there’s a lot more to it than just that, as I mentioned, it’s a huge commitment, it would be like me being on a travel ball team, almost 100% sacrifice of off time, for the entire family

I’ve been fortunate to see FiFi, and many of the other old warbirds at the annual air show at Lakefront Airport a few times.

It must of been one helluva sight seeing 600 of those beauties coming into Tokyo to bomb your arse. I know I’d shite myself if I were a Jap back then.

How long would it take you to get checked out in a B-29?

Seems it went to BTR. Saw it go towards BTR airport, then go back North after. Very impressive.

There isn’t an air show this weekend. There is a fund raiser tonight 6-9 pm. It’s to restart The Hammond Northshore Regional Airshow next year.
Tickets are $50.
Fundraiser ticket link
The war planes are there Thursday through Sunday.

How much would they charge me to jump out of the bomber doors?

An interesting story about Fifi is that at one time, Col. Paul Tibbets, who flew the Enola Gay when it dropped the first big one, flew this exact plane. His copilot..,was his grandson, who is/was a Air Force General
