he Saturn V has always been one of the most fascinating things to think about.

Today it is still man's greatest engineering feat. I struggle to understand why humanity is having so much trouble developing a rocket that can match its performance. It's like after its last launch we were somehow set back 40 or 50 years technologically.

Here's a link to a GREAT video of the launch sequence of the Saturn V in slow mode with a detailed explanation of what is happening. Thrilling.

Small world. I was a contractor engineer at a sub-base before I got tired of shift work during onload/offload operations.

That video is a good find. It was high quality and well preserved.

Living in Florida, I've seen a lot of great launches but, I never had the chance to see an Apollo. I did go to the very first Space Shuttle launch. It was awesome.

I agree. And it all started with a pencil and a piece of paper... Below is a picture of Dr. Wernher Von Braun's original sketch.

I remember watching this launch when I was 6 years old living north of Tampa. We watched the TV launch, then ran outside to see it. It lit up the eastern sky.

I've now spent the last hour watching re-entry videos and even a semi quasi TED talk from one of the Astronauts on what it takes to land the Shuttle from Space. I hate you but thank you at the same time lol.
