I found some localized totals on waterdata.usgs.gov but does anyone have a map showing the actual rainfall in South Louisiana 8/29-8/30? Or even just a list of totals.

Also came across some data on weather.gov showing significant rainfall in AL and FL but couldn’t find anything similar for LA

I had 5.92” of rain north of downtown St. Amant for Ida. About an inch for each time I almost shite my pants from the wind gusts.

I’d like to know also.
Can’t find my rain gauge after Ida, South Lafourche, below the Intracoastal.

I wonder too, but I would’ve just a guess on the amount of rain that fell.

The winds were so strong that most of the rain would have blown past most rain gauges and not be collected in the instrument.

How did you make out?

A tree fell on Chez Tarps and I had a few windows were blown out. The roof had to be completely tarped and all the ceilings have either fallen in or they are warped. Not a single telephone pole survived down my street. Entergy says power could be restored by the 21st.

Miraculously only a few porch rails down, AC units blown over. No house damage.
Lost 10 trees, all fell within a few feet of the house.
Houses down our street destroyed, ours spared.
In Baton Rouge still waiting for electricity.

Precipitation map from NOAA

This is what you’re looking for. Go set the bar at the bottom for last 7 days and you’ll see it. The year to date totals are pretty cool too.

ETA: sorry I was thinking the tropical storm in the last week. If you want Ida you can set the options at the bottom for daily and hit 8/29 and 8/30. I don’t think there’s a way to combine date ranges in the past except for by calendar month.

Also if you want a specific location you can go on wunderground Baton Rouge forecast and under the main title it will show a location and another link next to it that says ‘change’. Select that and it will open a map showing all of the weather stations they have access to. Once you select one you can look up the historical data at the bottom of that page with some drop down menus. Unfortunately though a lot of those stopped recording when the power went out for Ida, so it may be hard to get data for those dates.

Thanks, that is exactly what I am looking for except unfortunately doesn’t let you do custom date ranges

Since this is the only Ida thread on the first page now, I will post this here.

Port Fourchon submitted data from the Laney Chouest. A peak gusts was recorded at 194 knots, 223 mph. This was at a height of 100’ and an instantaneous gusts so there will be some reduction. Ida post-analysis will look at this for Cat 5 designation. LINK

Remnants of Nicholas are dumping rainfall in excess of 2"/hr in Northwest Alabama in the Shoals area. Storms are training on the area right now.
