If you want to eat, drink, etc why don't you just stay in your hometown. It's a big world out there. How about stepping out of the box and trying something new.

Dude... It would take a thousand pages to answer this question.
How old are you? Area of the city you will be staying? What kind of music do you like?

Mexican food:
Gueros on S. Congress
- one of the more popular spots in Auston but it does not take itself too seriously. Good margaritas and a great garden for live music. Must stop while walking down S. COngress.
BBQ:
Muellers Meat Co in East Austin.
- everyone on here will say Franklins. But the food is just as good, with no wait, at Muellers Meat Co. Apart of a legendary BBQ family this guy is straght BBQ no frills. Outdoor setting, but that is how BBQ should be done.
Lamberts
- In downtown. Fine dining setup. really good and the ladies would like it.
Pizza
Home Slice on S. Congress
- one of my favorite spots. good spot to hang out and get a quick bite.
Hobdoddy is overrated IMO. nothing remarkable about the burger. I think Five Guys is better.
Break down of night life...
East Sixth: quickly becoming a worse version of Bourbon.
West Sixth: all of the good looking people that previously went to east sixth are now going here. some pretty slick bars are set up here.
Rainey Street: Similar to West sixth but a bit more hipster/laid back.
S. COngress: Good restaurants/shops. Not much in bar action outside fo Continental Club. go there in the PM to shop/eat
