Atlanta bans the use of electric scooters at night

This needs to become a trend in all cities. The idiots riding these things in the middle of the road at night are to blame. I was driving around last night and almost ran over at least 3 youths riding them on the wrong damn side of the road.

Starting Friday, the dockless devices won’t be available for rent between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. The decision comes on the heels of multiple fatal crashes involving scooter riders. Four riders have been hit and killed since May.
“It is evident that immediate action is necessary to keep Atlanta’s residents and visitors safe,” Bottoms said in a press release. “Sadly, we have seen a pattern in the recent and tragic fatalities involving scooters – they all occurred after sunset. This nighttime ban, while we continue to develop further long-term measures, will ensure the safest street conditions for scooter riders, motorists, cyclists, those in wheelchairs and pedestrians.”

The BeltLine is a war zone with these things. You never know when someone is going to come and end your whole career cause they have to be zooming through the packed arse areas at max speed.

San Diego has to be the worst. People ride anywhere and everywhere with no regard for basic traffic signals and flow.

I recently used them to get to and from my hotel while at a convention in Atlanta. Zooming around Centennial Park at 14 mph I thought "I can really fricking die on this thing."
But they are definitely handy to have in a city.

I used one for the first time today in Bucharest, Romania of all places. My thought was more along the line of “I’m going to fricking die on this thing today”. I lived to tell about it though. Scooter plus crazy arse drivers and all.
