Back in the day, when I was young, I'm not a kid anymore, but somedays I say wish I was a kid again

With the leaps in technology I find my self saying that already.

I can remember a childhood without cellphones, internet, digital cable boxes, automatic windows, social media, SJWs, etc....

I once overheard a conversation between my 8 y/o nephew and his 4 y/o brother about their ipads.

When I was your age, I didn't have an ipad and had to watch youtube videos on the TV or Mommy's laptop.

When I say 'back in the day' I'm usually referring to my previous life as a knucklehead, when I finally half arse grew up and became boring is when the day changed I suppose.

But honestly my arbitrary reference point when speaking to someone will probably always be either 'back before the storm' or 'after the storm'.... when telling a story I don't know why but it almost always starts out with one of those two Katrina references.

My mom is retired CIA. I was a summer only employee there when I was in college. I remember my first summer there I got a tour of the mainframe room and the supercomputers still took punch cards. This was in 1980.

When life was radically different then vs now in some aspect. I'm 27. Back in my day, we didn't have cell phones, but we had phones that ran off the car battery. Back in my day, you had to go to the store to rent movies. Back in my day, you could just pop a catridge into the game system and play the game.

I had to watch Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Green Jeans in black and white on a fuzzy antenna image.

Three channels to choose from. PBS doesn't count. Until we got cable, then things got exciting.
