Donner had a huge sawmill. A company town ringed with levee’s.

The concrete lumber kiln is still visible from old Hwy 90. They logged the Gibson,Donner and Chacahoula swamp. They built railways throughout the swamp and used skidders also. Read the history then study it on Google Maps.

My dad owned an oil change place in Houma in the 70s. One of the techs was a guy from Dulac. He was a Billiot. One day he came to work with his hand wrapped up. My dad asked him what was wrong. He had gotten a Dardar girl pregnant, and the Dardars cut off one of his fingers and used it to bait a crab trap.
