To rip the frame out of the structure of the house by slamming it?

Exterior door, frame is now almost completely free on latch side.

I'm calling bullshite on this thing being properly installed.

A door is held in place by only a few screws.

Couldn't find any screws running into the jamb, just a few (framing) nails that have been yanked out of a 2x4.

Was trying to prevent three dogs from running straight at the turkey breast I was about to throw into the Big Easy. Not even a full on hissy fit slam, just an "oh shite, close this thing quickly" slam.

Pretty accurate with these mutts.

Just confirmed: it was only face nailed through the jamb. No screws running along the inside of the jamb.

A door frame is floating in place pretty much. A few finish nails on the trim and brick molding and a few long screws in the hinges drilled into the studs and a few more behind the weather stripping.

Interior doors won't have any screws. Just finish nails.

Weather stripping was the first place I looked (thanks, all those hours wasted watching This Old House) - not a damn thing.

I don't think by slamming it once. Unless it was a hulk slam. I had a house I built where I didn't realize I left the doors open during a storm and the back door slammed all night. Had to replace the door trim.

The latch side should be screwed into solid wood or what good is it. Also, if he slammed it I would assume the jamb gave which sounds like someone screwed the pooch or the OP is HerK.

The door frame doesn't sound like it was fastened to the 2x4 framing with lag screws nor shimmed in place. Sounds like it was installed as if it was an interior door.
