Pepe, you got 'em. Prayers your your Mom, you and yours, and her doctors and nurses. Hang in there.

It's hard to see our folks get on. My Mom turned 88 yesterday. Hard to believe she's been a widow for over 11 years.

God Bless.

Good luck man. Hips are a pain but they aren't insurmountable. just be with her and give her strength. I think both my grandmas broke their hips and they turned out ok and they were in their 80s/90s. my dad broke his hip into 15 pieces and survived (barely). It's a long recovery process to get ready for that. Prayers sent.

On a side note, I've always wondered why it's always the hip that older folk break and not a shoulder or arm while falling.

Many are susceptible to ANY bone breaking & they do break other bones ,but the hip is the worst.

The Hip is simply the most debilitating .

Makes a once independent person bedridden, susceptible to other infections, depressed because they aren't independent(lack of appetite,etc..) & other issues due to inactivity/depression.

An older person with a broken wrist, clavicle,arm,etc.....can still get around relatively well with a little assistance.

Yep, that's why it's important to have family around the older generations all the time. If you leave it up to the hospitals, etc to make sure just the basic stuff like their sheets are getting changed every day, then you're not going to like the outcome.

Same thing happened to my Mom back in September. They put in a rod and a screw. As soon as the surgery was over she felt much better and was relatively pain free. Look for a good rehab facility. She will be there for a little while.
Good news is my Mom is doing well and will drive herself over to our house on Christmas. Your Mom will get better to.
