Got one that took me a minute to figure out.

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, Auto. Went to start and it acts like the battery is dead. No lights left on, battery 1 year old, nothing out of the ordinary with it recently. Power comes on to everything, try to start and nothing...no clicks or anything.

First thought is dead battery, except everything pointing away from it. Thought maybe the shifter contact, moved it through the gears, then it got stuck in park, wouldn't move.

Checked battery at Napa and it is all good.

Other clue...
Dash says it is in park and the gear selector is stuck in drive. No key position let's the selector loose.

07 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 92k miles... Always starts easily on cold start. After engine runs about 30 minutes, if I turn it off and go to restart 5-10ish minutes the engine will (sometimes) turn over but won't ignite. Turn the key back to off, try to start a second time and it starts right up. Sometimes it will have a little difficulty and start anyway. Been doing this off and on for about 2 months. Ordered an EGR valve, but haven't had a chance to replace it. Thanks!

ETA? thoughts?

Crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor.

A very loud clunking noise when going from Park to drive or park to reverse. I'm a fix it all dude but this one has me stumped. 06 Xterra

sounds like driveshaft u joints or if it has 2 piece driveshaft could be swing bearing.
Also bad motor mounts or transmission mount.

Interesting. I've changed 2 of these in our other Nissan. They are infamously bad about going out. I should be able to see some jump by keeping my foot on the brake and pressing the gas. I'll see it if that's the case.

And it does have the 2 piece driveshaft. One to the differential and one to the trans.

yes, you can see the motor shift in gear. Also look under while someone holds the brake to shift into reverse and forward to see in the transmission jumps.

Asked a few days ago right when you went to check on your friend. Saw this had been bumped this afternoon and I'm too lazy to see if you had time to respond.

2004 Jeep TJ. Replaced brake pads last year around this time. Slight squeal when braking at low speeds, or if I'm going over 40 or so, when I brake down to around 20 it starts. It did it at first when the pads were new but went away. Started back again a few months ago. Function is fine I'd just like to rid myself of the squeal.

I probably should have mentioned... I actually tried those already, ha. I don't notice it too much, but it's got occasional rough idle as well. I was thinking if not the EVAP then maybe MAP sensor and clean throttle body?

Sounds like "cheap" brakes.

Had the same problem after just spent some decent change on some brake pads from NAPA

The easiest way to check for a vacuum leak is to start the truck. Then spray starter fluid around gaskets. If the idle picks up, you got a leak.

Also a great way to find a cracked spark plug wire.

sounds like it's getting fuel fouled.
Also sounds like the float is sticking causing the cylinder to get full of fuel and the starter cannot overcome the immense pressure of attempting to start an engine with a cylinder full of fuel.
Pull out the oil dipstick and see if the crankcase is over full and/or the oil smells like gasoline.

and then?

I need a couple of things done to my 2002 Honda Accord EX. What is the total cost for a new timing belt and water pump plus labor? Also I need to get a new oil pan because when I got my last oil change they said my oil pan was stripped to its last thread. Should I get a used or new oil pan and how much is labor to replace oil pan?
