Not exclusively. I’ve watched several tracts in my vicinity get torched before being cut. I can’t understand why as the harvesters seem to handle the cane efficiently regardless. Like Most here, I’m puzzled as to why burning is still allowed given the advances in harvesting and the pandering to green practices. I can only assume it’s

Brazil has 20x’s the sugarcane the US does and they stopped burning.
You obviously understand the climatological similarities between the ag areas of Brazil- particularly in the Center-Sud area where over 60% of the cane is grown and South Louisiana.
If cane chaff isn’t burnt in Louisiana, the cane stool rots, causing crop loss and disease.
Brazil is nice and dry.
Do y’all really think farmers want to burn this shite? It’s a pain in the arse to have to go do it.

I’ll give it to you South Louisiana folks.
Y’all can put up with some shite weather, politics, and farm subsidies for illegals.

This is nonsense. Plus the fire would have destroyed any chemical residue by incineration.
by definition, incineration is between 1800f and 2200f. The slow fire of sugarcane debris is probably in the 1000f range.
Its why incinerating household trash is a much cleaner disposal method than smoldering in a barrel.

InB4 "these fires are historically important" and "you shouldn't live within 20 miles of a cane field and expect to enjoy your property" from the idiots simping for sugar cane corporations.
cheez-in-rice, quit your bitching.
Those hardworking farming have been shitting on their neighbor's land for over 100 years. Tough luck for the new neighbor to come along and tell them they can shite there anymore.

How can you be so fricking stupid? Like, how?
In your own little purple and gold ego-centric world you never knew of burning cane?
Most of south Louisiana has lived this for centuries.
There’s life without you outside of St George.

What does this even mean? Are you saying the farms are owned by illegals? You think the workers are illegals?
