Aristophenes on gender issues

This seems to have been a topic recently so I should remind everyone of what the Greeks knew in the past.

Aristophanes famously (allegedly)gave this speech at a dinner party.

his has been known for 2200 years at least.

Humans originally had 2 heads, 4 arms, 4 legs, and got around by rolling. There were originally 3 genders. Males with two penises, females with 4 breasts and two vagina, and hermaphrodites(the majority) who had two tits, a dick and a pussy.

But humans pissed off the gods and the gods split them in two. So men and women were created. But each side was left longing for the half that had been separated from them so they could be whole. The hermaohrodites longed for the opposite gender. They became heterosexuals. The men and women who had been separated from the same gender became homosexuals. Each striving for the other half that would make them whole.
