I like to get out pinto the gas. Look around. Fill my own gas cans. Etc

Bit bright side is I guess no one is selling cds outside the gas stations or asking you for money since

I'm absolutely against a law forcing you to provide gas attendants but have you ever pumped gas in the dead of winter up North?

Sometimes it is well worth it to slide that CC through a crack in the window and let the poor schlub pump gas in the frigid temps. I'd definitely tip a couple bucks though.

They are so unionized up there it's sick. I knew a girl in graduate school who said she had to join the grocer's union just to have a part-time cashier job in high school.

They also have (or had) a chain of tire chain places where the guys run from station to station, which was also weird

Les Schwab is a regional treasure, Especially when they do they have the promotion where you buy 4 tires and get several pounds of steak free.

I usually tip a dollar per 100 gallons. Luckily I only have a 24 gallon tank.

I drove into Philly a couple years ago and experienced a "Full Service" pump. I went into the store and when I came out, I just started pumping my own gas. In my defense, I'm from the south and we don't have that service here. The guy walked around the corner and told me of the full service concept there. I felt bad and tipped a couple bucks but that was it.

Fast forward to this year. No tips for the gas people. When in Rome. No one else was doing it.
