Do I include my infant in the household number?

they weren't clear on that were they...I didn't include kids at all since they don't have a claim on my net worth...thought about not including the wife either

averages are misleading. a net worth in thousands by population graph is the only way to get a good sense of where most fall. Also net worth may be misleading. I have a relatively high income, but student loans. the second those are paid off i will sprint past friends who technically have an net with greater than mine today

what if you own a retail or service business, are the contents assets or liabilities(hint, liabilities?,) very empirical

you should value the business on what you could sell it for...some multiple of earnings depending on the industry and size of the business...impossible to say not knowing those things

that's my point, determining net worth is dynamic

Top 3%, apparently.
I can't exactly claim it all myself. My assets were bankrolled and transferred to me.

Off the top of my head, I'd say my net worth is right around that number. Haven't really looked at a few things in a while. It's steadily increasing with each paycheck though. Most is in savings and retirement. I don't own a whole lot of stuff or any property. No need for that at the moment as an unmarried 30 year old living in a larger, cheap city.
Rule of thumb is multiply your net worth at age thirty by 10 and that is what you will have by retirement. Something like that anyway..

Net worth of 10000 or so. Just started my career, not too worried.

Fortunately, I'm well over that number. Wife and I both have good paying jobs, we live within our means, and save quite a bit for our retirement.
A lot of our close friends, however, would be fricked if they lost their jobs. Some of them make great money, yet they're living paycheck to paycheck.

Has anyone called you out for posting that ridiculous load of horse manure?

I did
was so well done, I think I'll post my opinion of it again for those who missed it:
complete nonsense
the irony, of course, is that the actual greedy ones are the poor and middle class who want to take legally obtained property from those who have more than they do...but what then...well, it these do-gooders are honest with themselves, they'll quickly start writing checks to the REAL poor people in Africa, Asia, and South America...don't see that happening
I notice the commies always talk about CEO's when complaining about the wealth/income gap and never mention movie stars and athletes...why, because it all about their ignorance and greed...they don't care that Drew Brees has a 100mm contract, but whine incessantly about a CEO making 50mm. They can easily see that they can't do what Drew Brees does, but in their stupidity think they can run IBM...
If the poor and middle class want more, then go get it the same way the 1%ers do. There's no law stopping them, there's no caste system, there's nothing but their lack of ability and motivation...oh wait, so the problem is not that there is an income/wealth gap, but there is a talent/motivation gap and it will continue get worse and technology amplifies the differences in ability
poor people are a pain in the @#$

how about the arcane society of these CEO's making this type of $ in bankruptcy, receiving tax payer assistance, and even paying bonuses/retention fees to each other so that that these key people that led them to this place won't be tempted to leave and go to the competition?

I've never really figured my life insurance policy into my net worth, but I guess I am worth that to any beneficiary.
89 percentile without Insurance
94 percentile counting insurance
