Friend of mine is the Pastor. Most rodeo's last 2-3 days and on Sunday mornings they would always hold 'cowboy church". Since most of the cowboys and cowgirls and their families were from out of town it would give them a place to gather and worship on Sunday mornings. Its also very common on large ranches to have cowboy church instead of everyone going to a formal church its more of a non denomination worship service. The one in Zachary is normally held at outdoor facilities and arenas where service is held on horseback. Sermons are tied into the "cowboy" or country lifestyle and they have a pot luck meal afterwards.

Satanism is essentially the worship of self, not a far cry from the more widely admitted secular humanism. The inner desire to please self, this pride and greed, is what led to the fall of Lucifer from heaven. Whether you believe this to be allegorical or not is irrelevant to discussions out side of the church. So yea Atheism, who's tenants tend to somehow hate a god that they don't believe in, is just a few degrees away from Satanism...

May just be the on-line bunch. Their vitriol is quite measurable. In my experience, many "atheist" will actually admit agnostcim when pressed. These folk are usually not so angry.

Just my two cents: there are a-hole atheists and agnostics just like there's a-hole Buddhist, Christians and Hindus. There's less causation than correlation.
But I don't think most people are assholes of any stripe, they're just the loudest of any crowd. Most atheists, agnostics, Christians, Taoists, etc. are good people and it's a shame that they get represented by assholes on the internet. I guess that was my "point". And I was trying to be funny.
