Yes I am. When it was time for my son to do his after he was born, the doctor asked me if I would like to watch.

I was taken aback by the question and the image of him using that tool and just...*shudder*. I think the only word I managed to answer him was "nah".

My FIL was circumcised later in life
Right before the procedure the doctors asked if he would be interested in donating his foreskin to a burn unit.
There was a little girl that had been in a fire and was in need of skin grafts for her eye lids.
FIL said sure why not.
FIL recovered fine, the girl recovered fine but the doctors said she’d be little cocked-eyed the rest of her life.

It isn’t very common in the rest of world.

So much for that theory...

According to the World Health Organization, circumcision is most common in North Africa, West Africa, and the Middle East. In these areas, more than 80% of men and boys are circumcised. Malaysia, the Philippines, and South Korea also have high circumcision rates.

I was circumcised with pinking shears. I now have what can only be described as a "frilly dilly."

I got it backwards there. Appears it’s not common in European countries but it is common in almost Muslim countries and many African nations. But still...
quote:

Using these assumptions, we estimate that approxi- mately 30% of the world’s males aged 15 years or older are circumcised (Table 2). Of these, around two thirds (69%) are Muslim (living mainly in Asia, the Middle East and North Africa), 0.8% are Jewish, and 13% are non-Muslim and non-Jewish men living in the United States of America.

Are people walking around with ant eaters in the US? Women aren’t freaked by this?

Probably some are, but why should they be taken seriously? If a man is lacking in the most basic hygiene, no surgical procedure is going to help that. And as woman (no pics) who hasn’t needed to have any delicate bits cut off to avoid being the least bit gross or dirty or diseased, I figure there’s no reason a man with daily access to soap, clean water, and 30 seconds of free time can’t do the same.

As for looks, they mostly look the same when they’re ready for action. I had a friend in college (also no pics) who’d been sleeping with her boyfriend for several months and had no idea he was uncut until she made some dumbass comment about how guys who aren’t circumcised are gross. Plus they’re not fricking show ponies anyway. In my book any woman who’s spending hours just gazing rapturously at a dick is wasting her time.

Who tf cares? It’s much ado about nothing and always has been. Uncut is the normal human default for form and function, cut is what a lot of us are used to, but you can have a good time with either one. It’s not like any/most of you got a choice about how you were born or how you left the hospital anyway. So love the one you’re with, baws. Those of us with a brain don’t care about whether we can see our reflection in Darth Vader’s helmet, we just care that the man it’s attached to isn’t a lazy slob or an insensitive a-hole.

Also, yeah ... it just hit me that this is kind of a weird post, and that I wrote a novel on it anyway. Apparently I’ve been holding back some feelings for a while.

I was screwing around with a girl from eastern Europe and mine was the first circumcised she had seen in person. I just remember mentioning it before and she was like, oh like Muslim.

That's really sweet, but you must not have dated women before.

I have not. But I know those types are out there, which is why I specified women with a brain — however large or small anyone here believes that percentage might be.

If it’s any consolation, I was part of a group (no pics) who never had any shortage of male attention in college, and as shallow as we may have been about some things we dragged the shite out of anybody who was dumb and classless enough to disparage a good guy like that. The problem isn’t with the guy’s body; it’s with the woman’s mind. The only thing he was probably guilty of is poor choice of partners.

I may be the minority in my generation regardless, but I worked with a ton of international students in undergrad and grad school and it didn’t take long to realize that the vast majority of the issue was a difference in perception. The European/South American guys found the whole idea horrifying; they wouldn’t have casually given up their foreskin any more than they would have cut off their thumbs to avoid hangnails. Their American girlfriends never seemed to have any complaints either, interestingly enough. Personally I don’t ever remember caring about a guy’s status one way or the other, but after that it stuck with me that our brand of cultural ignorance really shouldn’t be a guy’s (or a baby’s) burden to bear. If it’s part of your religion, culture, whatever, if it’s a medical necessity or something you prefer for yourself for any reason, that’s your business. I just don’t think it’s something males should feel trapped or shamed into. Either way you look at it, you can consider yourself normal.

Weird thread, but yes I am.

Why are doctors who perform circumcisions so wealthy?

Because they get to keep all the tips.
