Are there any reliable homicide numbers for Baton Rouge? I am hearing 92 as of today.

Amortized out over the rest of the year, that would mean we will likely see around 180 homicides for the great city of Baton Rouge. So much for the chamber labeling BR the next great city. More like Baton Ruin, the city where dreams go to die and if you're black, you literally get to die. Everybody, be safe out there...

SWB and MP are apparently going out of their way to make it hard to count those numbers.

Normally it is freely available in the Advocate.

EBRP Coroner’s Website. SWB will target that department next.

Are we still at 26/100,000 murdered and tied with Baltimore for number 1?

165 is still pretty terrible. And would still position BR as the murder capital of the country. Let's remember, summer is just heating up so we may well come in above 165. Hot weather tends to excite the primal urges of the maladapted, feral classes.

Apparently they have been looking for zebras drinking at the oasis if the pool hit some time back is any indication.

How is that not terrible for a city with a population of 225,000 (city proper)? 165 is egregiously terrible.

Tampa has a city proper population of 404,000 and had 41 homicides in 2020.

It’s probably a Chernobyl joke about how the plant admins insisted 3.6 roetegen was “not great not terrible” with regards to the plant’s radiation when it really mean “We broke the ability to measure it with this equipment.”

According to the latest statistics, there have been 70 homicides within the city limits of Baton Rouge. There have been a total of 170 non-fatal shootings in which 204 people were shot. That means since Jan. 1, 2021, at least 204 people have shot and survived their injuries. Plus, an additional 70 people have died and these numbers are only for within Baton Rouge, not the entire Parish of East Baton Rouge.

I got this from a friend on the job earlier today. Unconfirmed.

BR has the 2nd highest murder rate in the country right now I think trailing only Baltimore.

BR totals pretty much cover EBR totals.

You don’t tend to get nearly as many murders in St George, Zachary, Central, or even Baker or Gardere as in NBR.

Most of the murders in the parish are in BR proper or shitty unincorporated areas that most people still consider BR. Baker is usually good for a few and you'll occasionally get a random one in Central or Zachary.
