To address your question, not necessarily. As a woman, birth control pills can be utilized to stabilize hormones, for irregular periods and such. I'm not certain why you're asking, maybe you're a parent yourself. It's normal to be concerned that the daughter will view it as a green light, it is also simultaneously understandable that you'd be concerned that the daughter would have unprotected sex because you waited to have the talk until a later age. I think at this age if you are going to be having that "talk," it's imperative that you properly and honestly answer any questions your daughter has, it is also important that you share your values with her regarding the topic.
Here's a book I found on the topic, if you would be interested in reading more up on it: "100 Questions & Answers About Your Daughter's Sexual Wellness and Development" by Carolyn F. Davis.

Interesting you ask, I've contemplated majoring in psychology/psychiatry. But no I am not, I am simply interested in broadening my mind.

Congrats... just wondering cause the OT's average IQ is about 34.72, but you post much higher. Were not used to that.

I'd rather she be a cum dumpster than a mom at that age.

You do know there are other options beyond these two, I hope.

Are teen pregnancy rates higher now vs 1960-1980? I'll hang up and listen.

Do you have any data that distinguishes between married 18 and 19 year old high school graduates and 15 year old freshmen? Serious question -- the commonly quoted stat is births to women between 15 and 19. There's a BIG difference between those two scenarios, and the former was a lot more common 50 years ago before college attendance became as common as it is now.

Also, it's a safe bet that there are a lot more abortions today than 50 years ago, so the lower number of teen births could at least in part reflect that.

Do you have teens? I can tell you parenting goes far but it doesn't ensure kids will not make poor choices.

Ok, let's look at the out of wedlock birth rate, both that and the teen pregnancy rate are much much higher than 30-40 yrs ago. We have a cultural problem.

Reading this thread has really opened my eyes to how ignorant many of the posters are on this board.

Ah the smug "if you disagree then you're ignorant" approach.

The wife and I had many battles regarding this. I was pro-abstinence. I should have known better. Not in today's society
Ended up with a divorce and almost losing my daughter. Realizing my baby girl was fricking WAS A HUGE PILl TO SWALLOW
If I had it to do over again I would have agreed to birth control Just my experience

Out of wedlock birthrate is much higher for sure (as is the divorce rate and the STD rate). 1960 is when the Pill hit the market so it's a good starting date for comparison.

Of course, in 1960 it was a lot more common to get married right after high school. It's easier to wait if you know it's only 2-3 years AND you have social pressure to wait, as opposed to today when you have social pressure to put out and you have to wait several years before you're able to support yourself.

Maybe you need to look up the definition of ignorant.

Old arse men in here not knowing that BC is used for so many other reasons besides pregnancy prevention in women is ignorant.

And I'm pretty sure this ignorance is the same reason many are against funding BC and places like PPH.
