Profitable for drilling more wells of existing pads where evacuation options are already in place.

You will see some uptick in the Bakken and more in the Permian, but no one is going to do new Exploration and Appraisal at this point.

When you say "pad" are you referring to leases overall or like the actual pad the well is drilled on?

We have a quasi isolationist President now. I'm sure they're happy to be left alone, for better or worse.

Both probably more the second. There are a ton of partially drilled pads out there (to hold leases), that could be fully drilled out for much cheaper than a new federal lease.

Even where you don't have existing physical pads, continuing to drill in the already appraised area is going to be cheaper.

A president directly referring to energy production in an inaugural address is a pretty big deal. He's already talking about opening up Federal lands for drilling, etc.
Hate to break it to you - price of oil will dictate how much production will increase - worldwide glut now.

Production is already increasing with more being planned. Oil went up 2% yesterday alone.

In my line of sight I can see 4 newly drilled wells, one of which is being frac'd and two drilling rigs. You really think they're not turning a profit?

Even the tankage in Cushing can only sustain the US for just a few days.

Isn't it down somewhere around 5% since early December?

It shot up based on speculation about the OPEC deal. That deal (a) has not been well implemented and (b) will not be renewed after six months. This lead to a bit of the speculation bounce wearing off.

I realize all this, the point I'm trying to make is that the prospects for US-produced O&G during the Trump presidency are good.

This. Trump flat out told them that it is time for them to pony up. We been carrying the cost/man power from day one. Enough is enough and I agree 100% that Trump is going to force them to protect themselves. Bout time.
