No. I choose to pay $30 every 6000 miles and sit in my car while some dipshit makes a living wage. Can I do it? Sure. Same as cutting my yard. It's just a better deal for me to pay someone that does that kind of shite for a living.

Does his storm drain lead somewhere that yours doesn't? You seem like a scared little bitch.

So when you go on a long trip you randomly stop every 100 miles or so and check if the oil is leaking.

If you are implying that you had two major oil failures on two different cars which resulted in blown engines and neither were leaking oil prior, then you're either lying or you should stay away from hospitals, casinos, and dog tracks.

I mean there are signs. Knocking. Temp fluctuations. Engine will run like dogshit. I just don't see how anyone could not notice their engine was devoid of oil on a long trip unless they never checked it or are just completely oblivious. And after it happened once, I don't see how in the hell it could happen again.

All depends on what you use. I've used full synthetic in my truck for the entire time I've had it. It would cost $69-$79 dollars to have done. I do it for less than $40. Usually can get a deal at Autozone where you get a filter free. Just got to pay attention.

ps I'm not a car guy but drive 3-4k miles a month, blown 2 engines, both due to oil

Then you need to learn.

I change my own oil in all my cars so I can look at the color and consistency and check if the car is losing any oil between intervals. Modern cars don't lose more than a few tablespoons of oil between changes.

No engine should suddenly run out of oil.

Oh I heard the knocking in the first one, by that point it was too late, second one seized up. It all happened about 5 years apart. I stay away from hospitals, casinos, and dog tracks
