I would say they are pretty tacky, unless being worn during an athletic activity (working out, playing sports, running, etc...).

We don’t let him wear cargos anymore.
He was pissed about giving up all the pocket space.
To free up some space, he wears his wallet on a chain attached to his belt loop now.
