If I post videos on Facebook of meals I eat out. Then set the videos to monetize. Is that not a business expense?
I'm starting to think all these low follower count influencers are really doing this for meals they can write off. Especially nice when it's almost daily.

You can.
Not sure what you really expect to gain for the additional work.

Yes, they can be.
However, a lot of them get meals and services free in the first place in exchange for "influencing."

I personally think if you are a small business owner, all food should be tax deductible. Grooming supplies and clothes as well. You can't run a business if you are gross, naked or dead. Would they rather give up my 100K in taxes or be petty about 10K in food a year.

IRS would probably look at that type of situation as hobby income as opposed to a true business.
If you have taxable income from a hobby, then you can deduct your hobby expenses up to the amount that zeros out the hobby income. You cannot claim a loss on your taxes from a hobby.
So if your videos generate $500 a year, then you can only deduct $500 of related expenses for tax purposes. Low follower "influencers" are probably only making enough money per video to write off a fraction of the meal check.

Well, you're no fun. It's not that hard to prove they have a profit motive and are just a really bad businessman.

I'd like to watch them try to explain to the IRS auditor how their totally legit influencer business generated less than $200 in revenue for the year while claiming $15,000 in meals as business expenses

This answers my question.

You have to actually make money to have taxes on money made written off

Obviously. But if you're buying meals you Obviously have money. If you then post reading these meals online on a paid account you're profiting from the meals.
But yeah just because you can write off a G wagon doesn't mean every SBO should have a G wagon.
