You all are telling this guy he is required to hold on to the video in case it ever goes to litigation, which no, he is not required to do anything unless he is court ordered.

Do you think companies have document retention policies because they enjoy holding on to hundreds of thousands of pages of documents for the fun of it?

If you record a video of your friend killing someone on your phone and then intentionally delete the video you are 100% going to face criminal charges.

Same if you have a dash cam that records you committing any other crime and then you intentionally delete it.

I have the Garmin 47. It paid for itself by backing up that an insurance claim should have been comp, not collision. Have had zero issues, also records speed.

I'm currently being sued by a dipshit that lost control of her car in the snow and hit me. Dashcam is my only witness to save me. First hearings went from "he was speeding and swerved into me" to now "he shouldn't have been there." My company's lawyers have told them to frick off every step of the way because I had the dashcam recording.

Garmin 46 if anyone is interested. It's an awesome cam.

Dumb question, do the one you plug in draw down the battery when parked?

We haven't noticed any battery issues in the 3 months that we've had it up. I also haven't checked if the camera is recording during that time.

I agree with your train of thought but it’s a win the battle, lose the war scenario. The adjuster recommended that I drop the appeal because there was no personal injury claim by the other driver. Appeals would draw it out and expose me to more risk. As much as I hated to do it I dropped it. Bastards

What I am saying is that a duty to preserve evidence arises once you have reason to believe that you are involved in a dispute that might lead to litigation. That might be long before a lawsuit is filed. If you are in a wreck, you can't just set out to start destroying relevant evidence. Comprende?

"Are you a cop? You have to tell me if you're a cop."

Amazing the random shite people hear and immediately accept as established truth
