SSI disability is a real program, and mental retardation, autism, learning disabilities, developmental delays, bipolar, and the like are potential grounds to qualify.

The rule book is thicker than the Bible, and it's not nearly so easy to qualify as people act. You don't just show you have ADHD and get a check. There are other demanding requirements.

They usually send the kids to consulting doctors, psychologists, etc. for assessment, and most of them are quick to call BS on fakery or malingering.

If the kid has an IQ over 70, can tie his shoes, and doesn't shite his pants or bite a teacher too often, he probably won't qualify. That's not straight out of the rules, but you get the picture.

That's about right. I know how it works.

And what alot of people don't realize is that check will just cover the cost of living in some filthy group home or something, where alot of these folks live.

Anyway, it's what you said. Developmental delays and debilitating neuro-psychiatric disorders.

Wouldn't surprise me. Just before my brother retired from the military, he went to the on base doctor a LOT to document health problems so it would increase his retirement pay. He said everyone does it.

That's not true.

Most people who are on disability for neuro-psychiatric and developmental reasons are legit. Some bullshite gets through but not alot.

But I'll tell ya where you see alot of real bullshite though. Worker related disability.

When those "plant baws", with their working man's PhD get hurt on the job. It's so difficult getting them off their asses, there's an actual healthcare niche devoted to making it happen. Those frickers have to be nagged back to work.
