I don't know if GT or other brands are doing this but Haro is making new versions of their old 80's BMX bikes like the Master calling them a Haro Master DMC Lineage. They're pretty damn expensive though like 1,500 bucks.

All chrome , 3 piece crank, old school diamondback frame with the diamond cutout in the back. Lightest frame. Kept the frame for years until mom threw it out one day. I'm still mad about it. I knew it was classic back then in the early 90s

My kid rides a Sunday. Its light and very sturdy. More of a freestyle bmx bike than a bmx bike like we had growing up. One other boy in the neighborhood has a Haro. My oldest sun and his friend had Redlines. They were bmx bikes.

Rest in our neighborhood are the cheap Walmart versions. Ive had a few come over and ask for help with their brakes and chains. Im like, huh, this aint the Mongoose I grew up with. Heavy on bling, light on quality.

I cut lawns during the spring and summer and bought all the parts for my GT Performer. I bought a pink performer frame, white skyways, a GT crank and a gyro for the brake cables.

That bike was the pride of my life as a pre teen.

In the 90s mountain bikes took over and it’s still the case. All the neighborhood kids mostly ride mountain bikes. Maybe 1/5 has a bmx bike instead.

They don’t care about going off any sweet jumps I guess

What’s big now is street bmx. Very different from the bmx racing and freestyle of the 8s.

Bmx racing is still sort of big in some rich areas but nothing like it was

Redline might be the only company that was good in the 80s and still making good bikes.

There are still a few adventurous kids out there.

Houston recently built this mix facility.

Wow... that's actually encouraging to hear!

I was serious that I've never seen anyone there in all these years.... must not go by there often enough.
