Yes

Had the same barber for 20 years. You use to have to wait an hour or so to get a cut but in the last few years he's been taking a nap when I walk in. The older clients are dying off and younger crowd goes to a salon. He has told me he wants to find a younger guy to take over for him so he can retire but cant find anyone. He had to raise the price to $14 recently and a bunch of the older guys that just need their head shaved quit going

Not in San Diego. But they do move around to different shops and locations sometimes. I've known at least 5 barbers that have cut my hair in the last 10 years or so that have moved to different shops. Also, I'm not talking about the old barber shops that's a staple of a particular neighborhood. I've also recently met some pretty good female barbers.

The new barber was talking about how young men don't get into the business any more.

I have no reason, just a personal preference to get a haircut by an older, seasoned, grizzled old fashoned barber.
Something must be wrong with a young guy becoming a barber... I don't trust them.

There are literally 292 barbershops in Louisville, KY.

There's a real need for barbers in south Louisiana. Idk if the average guy wants a real haircut, but either way they are getting ripped off. $25 for tits to give you an uneven haircut is shite

Anybody here go to Pat's Barber Shop in Marrero, La?

That's where I went when I lived on the Westbank and I'll still go there if I'm in the area.

You need to get out more. I have been to multiple places in south LA that do exactly that.

Razors Edge in ole Mandeville is a quality barber shop. Those boys know what they are doing.

I think the exact opposite. I think barbershops are the new "hipstery" thing to do. I seem them popping up a lot where I live.

I went to Golden Shears on Magazine street when I was a kid. I remember the sports talk, and the politics( Moon was the mayor) Went with my uncle. Never saw a woman in the place, they were not invited, nor do I think they wanted to be there. Wish all boys could experience a true man making thing like that today.

I hope not. I want my hair cut by a barber who will talk sports and local gossip with me while he trims everything up.

Mine always told me an age appropriate dirty joke. And you knew the gossip was good when they al started speaking French. They learned quick that I knew French too,

I'm worried about this. My barber is 85 years old. Acts and looks like a 50 year old though.

I love going to the barbershop. There's always a shite ton of smack talk and discussions on everything under the sun, but mostly sports. It gets crazy some times.

No its not. It's safe black place where they can largely truly be themselves, honestly talk about black issues, and be black and be celebrated and be comfortable in their own skin.

You'd be shocked at how many conservative trump voters there are in running through barber shops.

Two office spaces down in the street-commercial-upper-residential highrise where my clinic is located is a new barber-shop. It's young AA-male owned with 20 chairs and a sports theme. Always busy. I go once a month and a young AA-male knows the old school technique of shaving my face and head with a straight blade. Hot towels and all. I hope that skill never goes away.

My barber cut my Dad's hair since he was a teenager and was the only person to ever cut my hair. It was hard to lose him.

True that. My barber is black and everyone else there is Puerto Rican or black.

I love going there.
