I am a freight broker for the nations second largest firm. The opportunity for money is there. It's what you make of that opportunity.

Did it for about a year fresh out of college.

Terrible terrible industry and job. Hope you love cold calling... It's just about as miserable as I imagine insurance sales to be.

You basically call companies and beg for them to give you business, which you need to quote extremely low in order to win. That's the easy part. Then you have to call about 100 truckers and beg them to haul it for you while they laugh in your face, say "frick you", or just hang up on you. Oh and get ready for CH Robinson to leverage some relationships and butt-frick you.

You can do better.

AKA it's fricking dreadful and you'll work your arse off for pennies. There'll be a shitload of turnover.

Ok we can be friends then haha. I use y'all every day just about.

I was a broker for 6 years. Company I was with got too big and sucked the fun out of it. Went in to insurance sales for 6 months. Now I work for a trucking company. Will probably be joining their brokerage in the future.

Good deal.

I enjoy it. Definitely cut throat. I think finding a niche and sticking with it will pay off.

The company I was with only seemed to care about customers that shipped 50+ loads per day. I had no desire to ever service accounts like that. They're too hard to land, take forever to land, and has every broker under the sun calling them.

I enjoy working with companies that ship 1-2 loads per day. Land about 10 or so of them and build relationships and you can make a very comfortable living if you work for the right brokerage (that gives you a fair commission).

Well tql continues to grow and expand very aggressively.

It is definitely about building those relationships.

I worked in logistics for about a year and half before I moved up to crane and rigging with the same company. We were basically brokers but without the title and we didn't make commission. We worked with our own fleet of trucks to get local loads and all used TruckStop to acquire loads for other customer, mainly construction and heavy haul. I learned a lot but they wanted my brain on the money making part of the company so I switched over
