yeah. while serial killers typically have 3 or more victims, I think they have to be unrelated crimes in order to categorize them as serial killings. If the guy killed his wife and her family, while it may meet the quantity requirement, it's all related and therefore not serial.
Yeah it's a very specific and personal killing of her and her family.
Serial killers are seemingly random victims who may share certain traits.

Changed the title. How many people do you need to kill to be a mass murderer?

I also learned today that a guy involved with a fatal accident that was all over the news here in Houston is an ex-employee at one of our other offices in town. The man chasing the teenagers with a gun.

On New Year’s Day, Silvia Zavala climbed into her red Ford F-150 pickup truck to run some errands in north Houston.
The “funny and independent” mother of two had been visiting family in town for the holiday, and had planned to return to her own home that day, her daughter would tell ABC 13 News.
What Zavala couldn’t have known as she traveled southbound on Aldine Westfield Road was that, at the same time, teenagers in an SUV had been speeding around nearby streets, throwing eggs at oncoming cars, authorities said.
The juvenile prank had caught the attention of a man driving a Lincoln, who allegedly flashed a semiautomatic handgun at the teenagers and then began chasing them, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said. The SUV — driven by a 14-year-old — sped westbound on Aldine Mail Route Road. At the intersection of Aldine Westfield, it ran a red light — and slammed into Zavala’s red pickup truck.
Zavala, 45, died at the scene, authorities said.

seems like your company needs better screening questions.

In fairness they fired the gun slinging road rager and the murder worked for a company that is contracted by many companies in Houston. He could have ended up at any number of shops in town.

You're probably right but it's all sorts of fricked up. He even killed their dogs. We have a locker at our office with some of his belongings. Not really sure what to do with it.
Contact the police jurisdiction where he was arrested and let them know . They may be interested in looking for evidence.
