Over the years, a large number of these lunar samples have gone missing. Over the last decade or so, there had been an effort within the space community to locate these samples, and have them returned to their respective state/nation to be displayed. The missing Apollo 17 rock for Louisiana was purchased at a Florida garage sale and recently returned to the state ...

Good for the man returning it to Louisiana, but he sounds a little dumb. Who buys a piece of the moon for the wood plaque and then forgets about it?

JBE will be trying to take credit for this before the end of the day.

Actually , Holland tested the moon rock given to them by Apollo 11. Turned out to be petrified wood.
I actually think the so called moon rocks are meteorites collected in Antarctica by our space program to pass out as moon rocks.
