As an ex prosecutor from Uvalde, I can say based on my past interactions with Uvalde PD, you will never know the truth about what went down in that school until every inch of video tape is released to the press.

Oh sweet baby Jesus this just keeps getting better.

Here's a link to a video on Twitter where a reporter asks about Cops going in and getting THEIR own kids out and the cop says yes because "it was an active shooter situation".

Shame none of the kids in the class had a cop as a parent.

Start at about 1:15 on the video

I would bet my next paycheck this department has trained active shooter in the last 20 years. Why didn’t they go in and eliminate the threat like the training says? They didn’t want to
We toured a local police precinct when my son was a cub scout. The LT that ran the place took us out to his Tahoe to show them what all was in a cruiser. His was a supervisor's cruiser, so it had more gear, but he said all their supervisors' cruisers were similarly equipped. It included: tactical rifle, shotgun, sizeable ammo cache for both, tear gas canisters, restraints, body armour, safety shield, kevlar helmet, Halligan bar, etc. Hard to imagine how many PD in US would not have a cruiser so equipped available at all times.

The police HQ was 1.4 miles away according to Google Map.

So there's really no excuse for them to have been "waiting on gear".

I'm not sure what all they needed, but certainly they would have had AR's, body armor, etc. at the the HQ if every single squad car didn't have it.

There's unfortunately no excuse. Leadership had them wait, for reasons not yet known.

Texas Republican Tony Gonzalez says that Uvalde school shooter Salvador Ramos was arrested four years ago after he said that he would commit a shooting when he turns 18.

"This wasn't hearsay. I got this late last night: 'The shooter was arrested years ago, four years ago, for having this plan for basically saying, for saying, you know, when I’m a senior in 2022, I am going to shoot up a school.'

Sure seems like mandatory background checks for all gun purchases would've helped.

This tragedy is really f*cked up. it's heartbreaking, hard to comprehend, traumatic, there are no words to describe this evil act. My 7 year old son found out about the news a day later when a girl in his class mentioned it. He asked me if it was true, then asked me why this happened? Imagine having to explain to a 7 year old as concise and comforting as possible in a way not to create fear in his mind. It is hard for a parent, for all of us, for the general population.

This is traumatic, I wake up and 1st thing in my mind is thinking what these children and teachers went through. I just cannot fathom what the first responders or coroners had to endure gathered at that scene having to retrieve those little bodies. I pray for them. I pray for this country. This country has become shite for the last several years. I'm fed up with this fricked up failed school system that one fkn' lunatic has the freedom to just walk in a school undetected carrying large weapons on him. Another failed security system. Do something to add more security, armed staff, cameras, locks, anything. Pass a law enforcing security in schools rather than sending money aiding other countries.

It is sickening and there are no words to describe this type of evil. I hope that pos mf is burning in hell now and to eternity.

Stop saying his name. He needs to be forgotten and not glorified.

I don't know the solution, I'm just giving the details. This would have happened when he was 14, the shooter was 18 years old and 8 days when this happened. So any "record" would have been as a juvenile and a 14 year old at that.

ETA: If the shooter had actually wanted to do this for years, unfortunately maybe that's why he chose the elementary school he attended and not the HS. Maybe there was a lot of traumatic events in his life when he was in school there. I'm by no means finding a reason for this, simply pointing out a reason he chose that school.
