What do you do for Worley or Fluor?

Some of you guys may be in the know here and I'm going to act like I don't know anything about the plants and I've never heard of Sasol......

So there's second hand information around that Sasol may not even get this project off the ground due to some "environmental issues." Mainly people in Mossville not wanting to get up and move. To add, Sasol has been "known" to just abandon projects and we will find out this summer if they're going to go ahead with the project.

Now, back to me knowing just a little about what's going on around the area. When approached with this info, I told them that this project isn't just some "let's build a small unit to clean up the product a little bit." This whole expansion thing goes up to the minimum the governor of Louisiana. You really think Tammy Anne and Shon'quesha of the trailer park is going to hold up a project like this and completely eliminate an entire state economy boom?

I think it's people panicking thinking it's not going to happen because there's really not alot going on right now regarding work. No one really knows a date whenever these other units break ground.

ETA: I've heard it's going to be on the west side of 210 between Bayou D'inde and I-10.

If you want to settle down in LC, try your best to get on with Sasol directly. You will not make as much as you would with Turner being a "project warrior", where you work lots of hours (50-70 a week) and jump job to job across the US, but you will have a lot more security and be able to plant some roots in LC. I currently work for Turner at a plant just outside BR. I started in the field but have a nice gig now. I hated field work because I did not have a trade so I was undervalued and placed as a laborer doing slave work, despite my Bachelors degree. It ultimately landed me this job so I can't complain too much. You can make more money short term with Turner in the field, as they allow for lots of OT, but that takes away time from hunting/fishing and you tend to move job to job. Turner is a solid company though with lots of contacts all over, which could land you a permanent gig down the road. Sasol is also a solid company and could provide something long term with more security and less relocation than a Turner job. It really depends on what you want to do and are looking for.
