Mine (in Nashville) is over a year expired.
Its just a pain in the fricking arse to go get that done, then in this city, we have to pay like $70 for registration each year.
It is such a fricking money grab. I'm philosophically opposed to it. Pay a vehicle tax when you get a vehicle or move a vehicle from out of state to Tennessee. Then it should stop there.

almost 2 yrs expired. At this point I might just hold out and hope LA does away with them like they've been talking about.

I moved here from VA 5 years ago, never got an inspection sticker, I just roll with 2014 VA sticker on my car and have never had any problems. Even had an accident and the cop didn't say anything about it.

Longest I went was 10 years. Then I wreaked my truck and got a new car.
