I hadn't sold anything there since 2009.

I had a lot of unused inventory that I wanted to clear, so I thought I could sell some stuff and have some extra vacation money.

Well my stuff was selling great, in the first day I "had" $600. Then I found since I hadn't sold in so long I was subject to a hold of up to 21 days, or 3 days after the item has shipped and recieved.

This makes no sense to me as Paypal can and will take their funds from you no matter what, so holding them seems punitive.

To make matters worse, they don't release the shipping funds. So instead of making $600 in a day on a few sales, I'm out $60 shipping.
With the post office so shitty right now, it'll be a while before I get paid.

It's small money, I know, but it's the principle of the matter. When I buy something online I am agreeing to pay the seller for the item. This new system makes no sense. I contacted Ebay and they said after I sell $250 in items (done) and have 25 "New" sales feedback and 90 days pass the hold will lift.

Still, It's my money and I want it now.

TLDR

Ebay still fricking sellers over.

I used them recently for the first time to sell an item, and will never do it again. They took their percentage of my sale, which I was expecting. A couple of weeks later I get another invoice for $40 or $50 for my monthly fee, which I w as not aware of. Between their sales fee and monthly fee it was almost a quarter of my sale. Never again.

I fricking hate eBay. I put my Rolex up for auction a while back, auction ended at $3K, buyer didn't pay, relisted, winning bid was for $2.1K, I didn't honor the sale because I'm not losing money, received negative feedback, relisted and sold for $2.5K.

eBay and PayPal can both go choke on a dick.

Man things have changed a ton since then. Be prepared to pay a ton to ebay and paypal for fees. Ebay now takes a 10% fee off of whatever you sell and paypal takes a chunk as well. if you sell something for say 500 ebay will get 50 and paypal will get like 10 of it . Now throw in Shipping and you are out a chunk. Yeah good luck selling on ebay now. Gone downhill since 2009.

Yeah. Ebay takes 10% off top. Used to be 4% back in the day. Oh "but listing is free" gee thanks.

Paypal takes 3% which is about normal for credit processing so that doesn't irk me as much.

Ebay doesn't take their money off top anymore they bill you monthly.

I;ll say, the hold doesn't bother me that much, but not releasing shipping sucks. As soon as I noticed, I cancelled all my items over 3 pounds.

Then I got in trouble, because someone from Gretna messaged me and offered to meet in person. So I got a nasty letter reminding me that they read the messages and we can't meet outside the site.

Also, I have to use Paypal for the initial 90 days I can't switch to Authorize or square yet.

Still people say it's way better than selling on Amazon.

Facebook marketplace is the best, but not many people there looking for random control boards and appliance parts. Though I did just sell a 11 year old Viking double in one day on there.

I did once and $1.2K was the highest bid. You can't put a reserve because no one wants to bid, except 0 feedback buyers.

They told me at least 24 days to assure that the funds have been deposited in my Paypal.

What bothers me is that in selling appliance parts to regular joes, a lot will be people just buying random parts to fix their appliance. A bad fuse will make them buy a new control board. They install it, problem not fixed so they want to return the part. Well now it's no longer new, and it was in a box sealed and covered by the MFG warranty. Yet I have to take any return now, because I haven't been paid, what choice do I have.
So I sell a $250 board for $120 to firesale it, someone opens and installs it and now it's a used part worth $40. These are all end of year write off parts. Just I know it's coming.

How is this their fault? You didn’t honor the second winning bet. That’s on you.

If you wanted more, start the listing at a higher price. You can’t list something for $5 and be mad it didn’t sell for $10.

It's their fault because the more you relist an item, the harder it becomes to sell. I listed that watch seven or eight times in total. Go list something expensive and see how much fun it is for yourself, dealing with 0 feedback bidders bidding up your item, retracting bids, and buyers who don't pay. Oh, and the $2.1K buyer lived in South Korea. I'm put US only in the shipping category and dumbass eBay still lets them bid for some reason.

List your item as Buy It Now and require immediate payment upon purchase. I would never list something that expensive as an auction with no reserve. You're just asking for major hassles. Also, you can have your item set to auto re-list.

My only gripe with eBay is that they said with the buyer 99.9% of the time. What I've learned is always ask for pictures of damage or for a return. This weeds out most of the scammers looking to get a free item or discount.
