I think I was a freshman in college before I ever had internet at home. All of the rest of those were staples as a young lad though.

You can block content on a router like Google WiFi per device. Obviously you don't want to block your own access.
It just becomes problematic when he has cell service and can disable wifi whenever he wants. That would require some kind of parental app or settings on the phone.
