No.

I have played for I think it will be I think 3 years come February. And I have put in a total of $5 and that was just to get my 4th builder faster.

And I was wrong before. I'm level 132.

Buying gems (premium currency) doesn't make you any stronger or get you any items you couldn't normally get. Just speeds up how fast you can upgrade and such. Game just takes time.

My son got me started on it. I'm level 97 TH9. Working (slowly) on maxing everything before going to TH10. And I agree with what others have said, this last update sucks and came close to ruining the game.

i have 0 experience with the game but i always love hearing about how updates kill experiences for the psychological aspect of development

The big change was how shields work. There's a lot of serials that go with that but I've got to hit the shower. Hopefully someone else has time to go into the details. If not, I'll check back later.

I'm TH8 level 88. Everything maxed except for my last 10 walls. I will be starting the upgrade to 9 probably over the weekend.

Those are pretty good clans. I'm only lvl 103 th9. My clan should be a lvl 9 in a week or so.

You used to be able to raid inactive bases that have resources on the outside of the base weigh lower level troops. It helped to level up faster.

Now they removed those bases groom three que or moved them to the back. This makes gems s($$$) more attractive since it's so much harder to upgrade your stuff.
